See the CrossRoaders of 2006 as they settle in on their first day of CrossRoad.
On Day 2 of CrossRoad 2006 the CrossRoaders started their morning off with Liturgy for the Nativity of John the Baptist and then headed off to Project Adventure about 30 miles north of Boston to spend a day on the ropes course learning valuable lessons of teamwork and getting some quality bonding time in. After returning to campus in the evening staff member Mary Beth led them in a workshop on Vocation and Worship, going over the basic structure and cycle of services and leading them in some chanting. They closed the evening with a birthday cake for one of the CrossRoaders and headed up to the chapel for Small Compline.
CrossRoad started off Day 3 with Liturgy and brunch, then spent the afternoon hearing about and discussing living an Orthodox college life. Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) staff and students came to share with the CrossRoaders their experiences as Orthodox students in the college world and the opportunities available through OCF. After Vespers and dinner they spent the evening discussing "Vocation & Pop Culture" including movie, tv, and music clips.
On Day 4 CrossRoaders started the morning with Orthros and their first morning of classes with Frs. Luke Veronis and Ted Stylianopoulos. After lunch they had some free time that they could spend shopping in the campus bookstore, learning to make Kombiskini, playing frisbee in the temporarily dry weather, and helping make prosphora. That evening they traveled to St. George Albanian Orthodox Cathedral where they were greeted by His Grace Bishop NIKON and Fr. Arthur Liolin. After returning to campus in the evening they discussed Sanctification of Time.
On Day 5 CrossRoaders had classes in the morning and then traveled with their professors to downtown Boston to see part of the Freedom Trail, highlighting Old South Meeting Hall and Old North Church as they were led by a costumed tour guide. After the freedom trail they traveled to St. Mary's Antiochian Church in Cambridge for Paraklesis. They ended the night with "Vocation & Worship: Part Deux."
On Day 6 CrossRoaders spent most of the day on campus with the final 2 classes by Fr. Luke Veronis in the morning and "Defending the Faith" in the afternoon. They traveled to Holy Trinity Cathedral of the OCA for Vigil in the evening and closed the day with a "Night With the Saints."
CrossRoad Day 7 started off with an early Liturgy in the chapel here on campus and then on to the last day of classes with Fr. Ted Stylianopoulos. After class CrossRoaders headed off to Feneuil Hall and Quincy Market in downtown Boston where they ate lunch, took in the tourist sites, and got their Boston shopping in. They headed back to campus just in time for Vespers in the chapel and then spent the evening preparing for Stage 3 of CrossRoad: Vocation & Christ in the Face of the Neighbor. The evening ended early in preparation for Day 8's early wake-up call of 5am and the beginning of Stage 3.
