The Office of Social Ministry (OSM) works to place HC/HC at the vanguard of Practical Christian Witness in the United States through the Proclamation, Teaching and Application of Orthodox Christian Ethics among three constituencies; namely the Student Body, Local Parishes and appropriate Agencies which address a variety of social ills.
Guided by the admonition of St. James, we assist students and their families in Spiritual Growth and Priestly Formation through theological reflection on practical service so that future Clergy and Lay Leaders can competently address issues like Chronic Poverty and Homelessness, Globalization, International and Local Violence, Genocide, Human Trafficking, Environmental Concerns and more. All of which impact our communities and call out for the effective and authoritative responses found only in the Orthodox Church.
The Office of Social Ministry also works with parishes to develop Social Ministry programs for the Spiritual Growth of their members by providing a Laity Training Program, Faith & Practice Retreats and continued Mentoring for those growing in Christian Social Ministry.
